A collection of three bespoke new build houses on a compressed site in central London. The timber framed superstructure was designed and supplied by a specialist manufacturer. The substructure comprised beam and block concrete floors over mass concrete foundations. The foundations were constructed in an underpinning sequence with varying depths dictated by the proximity of local trees in soils with high volume change potential. An alternative substructure option of mini-piles and ground beams was offered at concept design stage. The 3D image below was kindly provided courtesy of Tom Bestwick Architects.
