Avenue Pre-Prep & Nursery School

A new single storey stand alone classroom. A large oak tree in the adjoining garden dictated a substructure solution of a reinforced concrete raft slab over mini-piles. A “continuous” steel framed superstructure allowed for an open plan floor space and cantilevered glass canopy. The solution was part led by time constraints on the construction programme and access for plant and materials. The concept sketch below was kindly provided courtesy of Ed Toovey Architects.
